Well, the motion-capture animation is good. They've turned a rather epic poem into a decent action film, added some extra elements, fleshed out some of the characters (sagas not being known for their deep characterisation, admittedly), one or two cliches and, for fuck's sake, Ray Winstone as Beowulf. Can he keep his accent under control? Can he bollocks.
It's only voice acting, really, and they could have found someone who doesn't sound so daft amidst the Scandinavians, couldn't they? Anthony Hopkins, Brendan Gleeson, John Malkovich, Angelina Jolie, they all manage to get a grip, why not Ray?
Enjoyable film, though I dunno whether Neil Gaiman had a good influence or not.
"I'w kiww your monstah!"
...or in English...
"I'll kill your monster!"
It's the way I manages to say the word "I'll" with about three w's in it somehow. Good Scandinavian accent that - no idea what you're on about
Alright flick. Bit strange. Probably would've cost less if they'd just made it a film with CG elements but there we go.
Aren't the Asgard supposedly technologically superior?
Hope Slaughter's not seen it, he'll be in tears.
That's something else that gets me a bit - the one character they made look so precisely like the actor was Hopkins' character. They could have just put him in the film and saved a fortune but nooo...
Aren't the Asgard supposedly technologically superior?
Gleeson looks like fucking Gimli, son of Gloin.
