The Last Outpost was originally started in 2001 when cyke had the fantastic idea
of building a gaming site where he could vent his fury and praise about the gaming
world on an unsuspecting public.
Working with a fairly basic layout and a shaky administration system as built
by Pete, the site generated a small-yet-faithful following and accumulated a
fair few decent articles.
Unfortunately, it's popularity was hindered by it's
accessibility, being hidden away on one of Gamespy's not-too-reliable servers
with a stupendously long URL on what can only be described as the unreachable
backside of web hosting. To make matters worse, real life events took over
for a while (Boo! Hiss!) and the site fell inevitably by the wayside.
It was
all but forgotten until one day the duo decided to breathe life into the site
once more by rebuilding it into something better, faster, stronger and, ultimately,
sexier. Branching out into other areas in which the team of writers can vent
their frustration or just generally babble about, The Last Outpost is now ready
to take the world by storm, some four years later.
