Best Animated Series Ever? | September 2, 2006 at 02:54 PM

Jamie and the Magic Torch all tha way!

Seriously, I got series 1 & 2 on DVD (I'm not even going to pretend they belong to my niece/younger brother/great great grandchild) and it's a stand out piece of british 80's cartoonery!

Plus Wordsworth's accent is fun to mimic in social situations

Voldemort Strikes Back | April 1, 2006 at 10:42 PM

but for all its little failings it beats 'the Chamber of Secrets' hands down. I've not read the books so i only have the films to go on (my other half is a a huge fan "which kinda makes me a vegetarian too").

I watched the philosophers stone and was plesently suprised. the plot seemed to develop at a decent pace, you were never to out of the loop with what was happening, but the chamber of secrets nearly put me off watching any other potter films altogether. I felt like i was watching a foreign language film and the second line of subtitles was missing off the bottom of my screen, although i could see generaly what was going on, i always felt like id missed a scene somewhere, certain bits didnt seem to add up, or were nonchalantly explained away, wound me right up!

For me, GOF is the best potter film so far, i didnt notice any 'missing' bits, tho it did sometimes seem to jump where any other film would skip. But for god sake, will Potter ever learn a different spell to use on the hop than expelliamus??? Can you imagine him getting chatted up "so Harry, show me a spell" BANG!

Furniture Of Adventure | April 1, 2006 at 10:07 PM

Slight Spoiler. . .

Have to say, on a personal note i love it when Aslan ressurects all the frozen Creatures of Narnia, and they turn up at the battle field just in time to turn the tide.

"And who is at the front of this intrepid band?" i hear you ask, why no other than Mr Tumnus ("Mr. Tumnus Mr. Tumnus", god i want to slap that little girl black and blue every time she says that!)

Mr F'ing Tumnus. . . Whats he gonna do, read his depressing Sixth-Former-who's-listened-to-his-dad's-morrisey-collection-and-still-has-no-hope-of-getting -laid poetry to the enemy untill they turn their weapons on themselves???????

As for you luftwaffe vs. narnia comment, thats a distressing parallell i didnt draw when i watched the film first time, slight fuck up i feel, however shows the fickleness of the average cinema goer. . ."yay, bomb the bastards into the stone age. . .wait, Narnia has only just left the stone age. . .durgghhhh"

The Tlo Parliament | April 1, 2006 at 09:54 PM

ill pass that one, health care should be available to all regardless of 'supposed'wealth.

I vote that anyone caught littering should be frog-marched to the nearest bin and forced to eat the bit of food closest to the bottom of the aforementioned bin, that'll learn em!

Bitter? A Pint, Please | April 1, 2006 at 09:35 PM

From a purely asthetic point of view they dont even LOOK next-gen!

Remember when you saw the PS2 for the first time? All black and sleek and it looked like nothing youd ever seen before, and it stood upright like a tower and you went "Behold, The next generation of gaming will be upon us!".

I looked at PS3 and went "Oh. . . ." and that was it. to be honest, when laid down it looks a bit like a compact breadbin.
