A great little Ozzie film about some amateur troops in WWII. Stuck in deepest, darkest, jungliest New Guinea, conscripts go up against the rock-hard Nipponese.

Under-equipped, poorly supplied, and in terrain where it is quite possible to drown in mud, the Ozzie forces ("chockos" or chocolate soldiers) were expected to get a kicking and surrender, melting under the Japanese assault, extreme conditions, and their own general shitness.

Bout time our Commonwealth troops got a bit of cinetime, and fuck me do they deserve it. Jungle fighting, good audio especially the guns and other assorted bangs, gory stuff, manly and tender moments (no tender manly moments though, sorry), courage, sacrifice, shooting lots of people, this film has the lot. Cheap as chips on DVD as well.
